See all reviews of Clive Barker's Hellraiser: Revival →The game feels like a collection of borrowed ideas from other titles, with Resident Evil Village being one of the most obvious influences. Instead of taking inspiration from its influences and building something original, it comes across as a poor imitation that lacks its own identity. The biggest problem is the lack of creativity and substance. The story feels shallow, the narrative fails to offer anything particularly memorable, and the overall experience gives the impression of something assembled from familiar concepts rather than thoughtfully designed. At times, the writing even feels like generic AI-generated content, lacking the personality and originality that make a game's world and characters compelling. Visually, the game is undoubtedly impressive, but good graphics alone cannot compensate for weak storytelling, uninspired design, and repetitive gameplay. Its visual quality is practically its only major strength, and even that doesn't feel sufficient to justify the experience. The combat quickly becomes repetitive, and the level design fails to keep things interesting, making progression feel more like a chore than an engaging experience. Unfortunately, the ending makes matters even worse. It's poorly executed, underwhelming, and fails to provide a satisfying payoff for the time invested in the game. Ultimately, this feels like a game that prioritizes visual presentation over creativity, gameplay variety, and narrative quality. For me, the asking price simply isn't justified. It's difficult to recommend a game that offers so little originality or lasting enjoyment beyond its graphics. Considering the time, money, and resources invested in its development, the final result is genuinely disappointing. A visually impressive game cannot hide a lack of substance, and in this case, the graphics are doing far more work than the actual game.
